Drivers and Usage Scenarios
Who should be listed as drivers on the policy?
Besides the vehicle owner (primary driver), anyone who regularly or periodically uses the vehicle should be declared as an additional driver.
This includes: spouses or common-law partners, children of driving age living at home, and even roommates who regularly share the vehicle.
Important:
Spouses must be properly declared even if not living at the same address, if they share a vehicle.
Conversely, friends (roommates) living together who share a vehicle can be added to the same policy.
Failure to declare accurately may result in claim denial or retroactive premium increases.
This is general information only and does not constitute insurance advice. Your policy wording and a licensed broker's confirmation prevail.
