Special Situations and Common Questions
Is it safe to drive an Ontario-plated car in Quebec?
Theoretically legal, but there are some differences.
If an accident occurs, both personal injury and vehicle damage will be handled by the Ontario insurance company following Ontario rules.
In comparison, using Quebec plates and insurance means at least the personal injury portion benefits from Quebec SAAQ's unified coverage, with potentially clearer processes.
This is general information only and does not constitute insurance advice. Your policy wording and a licensed broker's confirmation prevail.
