Special Situations and Common Questions
Will insurance cover an accident involving drunk driving?
Third-party damage is usually COVERED, but the consequences are extremely serious:
Criminal liability:
Facing license suspension, fines, or even imprisonment.
Insurance consequences:
The insurance company will refuse to renew the following year, or mandate installation of an alcohol ignition interlock device.
Once you have a refusal-to-renew record, obtaining coverage from other companies in the coming years will be very difficult and premiums will be extremely high.
This is general information only and does not constitute insurance advice. Your policy wording and a licensed broker's confirmation prevail.
